Things are starting to take shape inside Fifth Third Arena as the University of Cincinnati makes progress toward completing the $87 million renovation of its on-campus basketball home.

UC athletic director Mike Bohn took us through to show off the progress on the project that began in March 2017 and is on schedule to wrap up in time for the UC men’s basketball team’s opening game against Ohio State University on Nov. 7.

Renovations at the 29-year-old arena are starting to take shape, with concrete poured for seating sections and suites and boxes built.

UC is adding 542 club seats, filling the west side of the arena in line with the court. It’ll install three areas for fans with club seats to get concessions, eat, drink and mingle. One, called the Champions Club, honors coaches who have won the national title or taken UC to the Final Four: Ed Jucker, George Smith and Bob Huggins.
